Archbishop Elden Francis Curtis, Archbishop of Omaha

Dear Friends in Christ,

The world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of

Fatima that has traveled around the world and seen by millions is coming to the

Archdiocese of Omaha October 1-28, 2008.

Sent out to bring the message of Fatima to the world in 1947, the International

Pilgrim Virgin Statue has appeared in more than 100 countries, including Russia and Red

China, bringing the great message of hope, "the peace plan from heaven." This is the

same message our Blessed Mother gave at Fatima, Portugal in 1917, and is even more

relevant today.

Many miracles and graces are reported wherever the statue travels. In 1951, Pope

Pius XII remarked: "In 1946, we crowned Our Lady of Fatima as Queen of the World and

the next year, through Her Pilgrim Statue, She set forth as though to claim Her dominion,

and the favors She performs along the way are such that we can hardly believe what we

are seeing with our eyes." Pope Paul VI also blessed this beautiful statue.

The visit of the statue to various archdiocesan parishes is being sponsored by the

Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima in America. It will be accompanied by special

liturgies and prayer services to be arranged and coordinated with local parish

communities.

The Archdiocese of Omaha has a privileged place in hosting the International

Pilgrim Virgin Statue of our Lady of Fatima. This is a blessed time in our archdiocese

and a real opportunity to grow more in Christ through our Blessed Mother and bring

others further into his truth, teaching and love.

I am sincerely yours in the Lord,

Most Reverend Elden Francis Curtiss

Archbishop of Omaha
