Fatima statue coming to (Omaha) archdiocese in October
A replica of the world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima that has traveled around the world is coming to the Archdiocese of Omaha Oct. 1-21.
The statue will visit various archdiocesan churches and it will be accompanied by special liturgies and prayer services.
The statue's visit to the archdiocese is sponsored by the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima in America.
"The Archdiocese of Omaha has a privileged place in hosting the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of our Lady of Fatima," Archbishop Elden Francis Curtiss said. "This is a blessed time in our archdiocese and a real opportunity to grow more in Christ through our Blessed Mother and bring others further into his truth, teaching and love."

Sent out to bring the message of Fatima to the world in 1947, the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue has appeared in more than 100 countries bringing a message of hope. This is the same message Mary gave to Fatima, Portugal, in 1917, when she appeared monthly from May to October to Lucy Santos and her cousins, Jacinta and Francisco Marto.
Many miracles and graces are reported wherever the statue travels.
Pope Paul VI blessed this statue, which was sculpted in 1947 by Jose Thedim and was based on the description of Sister Lucia.
On Oct. 13, 1947, the statue was blessed by the bishop of Leiria at Fatima to be the traveler.
The closing ceremony for all parishes will be held Oct. 21 at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha. After a rosary at 6:45 p.m., Archbishop Curtiss will celebrate Mass at 7:30 p.m.

BLOGGER'S CORRECTION: The Statue visiting the Archdiocese of Omaha is not a replica of the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue which has been criss-crossing the world for more than 60 years now, but rather IT IS THE SAME STATUE, the INTERNATIONAL PILGRIM VIRGIN STATUE OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA ITSELF. This is simply to clarify the first sentence on the newspaper and does not mean any harm.
